Bio"He's not mine is he? His madness...his madness keeps him sane." - Delirium
His Imperial Majesty, Emperor Joshua Abraham Norton I, Emperor of these United States and Protector of Mexico is an man in his 50s who always appears clean and well groomed.
He is typically dressed in an elaborate blue uniform with tarnished gold-plated epaulets, given to him by officers of the United States Army post at the Presidio of San Francisco. He also often wears a beaver hat decorated with a peacock feather and a rosette. He frequently enhances this regal posture with a cane or an umbrella.
At times he is accompanied by his two faithful servants Bummer (a black-and-white Newfoundland dog) and Lazarus (a dog of mixed breeding), who are not the Emperor's dogs. He is unassuming in character and appearance despite his rank.
Joshua Abraham Norton is from the Sandman comic (Issue #31 "Three Septembers and a January"), and is the property of Neil Gaiman in this characterisation. He/she appears here solely for the purpose of role-playing in![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif)

One thing to note about Emperor Norton...
Any woman will be a curiosity to him. San Francisco in His time had a gross imbalance in the population of men verses woman, something like a population of between 20,000 and 25,000, with only about 300 were women.
Women were such a rarity that groups of men would stop any thing they were doing, take off their hats and bow to the lady or ladies until they were out of sight. His will stare, but not in a lewd way, or otherwise note the presence of a woman.
